For parents

What you get, and how you'll know it's working

One-to-one online lessons in maths, physics, chemistry and computer science at GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and IB. The first session is free, you pay per lesson, and you hear from me after every one.

Step one

The free session

30 minutes on Zoom

Your child works through a short set of exam questions with me on the topic they find hardest. I watch for the step where the marks go: a method, a type of question, or a habit like skipping working.

What you get afterwards

A plain summary of what I saw, a suggested target grade, and a short plan of which topics to fix first. Nothing to pay unless you decide to carry on.

Then

What a lesson looks like

First 10 minutes

Warm-up from last time

Three or four quick questions on the previous topic. If one is shaky, we fix it before moving on.

Middle 40 minutes

Teach, then practise

A worked example, then exam questions while I watch for the step that goes wrong. We reveal the mark scheme one mark at a time, so your child learns to see the question the way an examiner does.

Last 10 minutes

Recap and homework

The method written down in your child's own words, plus 20 to 30 minutes of questions on the same topic, marked before the next lesson.

Once the topics are secure we move on to full papers under exam timing, marked the way an examiner would mark them.

Staying in the loop

How progress is shared

A note after every lesson

A short WhatsApp message: what we covered, what the homework is, and one thing to watch for. A minute to read.

Marks you can see

Every practice paper comes back with the score and the marks lost by type, so you can see the progress rather than take my word for it.

Lesson recordings on request

Lessons run on Zoom and are recorded. If you or your child would like the recording of a lesson, ask and I'll send it over, by email or whichever way suits you.

Who's teaching

About me

I'm Hamdhan, a final-year civil engineering student at the University of Warwick. I've tutored GCSE and A-level maths and sciences for two years, including Edexcel IGCSE students overseas preparing to study in the UK. I mark the way an examiner marks, because that is where students who understand a topic still lose grades.

  • GCSE: nine grade 9s, including further maths
  • IB: HL 7s in maths AA, physics and computer science
  • DBS checked
  • Online on Zoom, camera on, shared whiteboard
  • Taught to your child's board: AQA, Edexcel, OCR, IGCSE and IB
